Layang Layang 2012
At the end of July/early August, I went to Layang Layang Island Resort with Emma Holman. The resort sits on a tiny piece of land that forms part of a coral atoll known as Swallows Reef, an hours flight off the coast of Malaysia Borneo in the South China Sea. With a turquoise blue lagoon inside the reef, diving takes place on the steep walls outside the atoll, where the slopes fall away to more than two kilometres deep. Layang Layang is renowned for pelagic creatures and while we didn't see the elusive hammerhead sharks, we did see plenty of big and small creatures.
